Usher Auth support
Answers to what people ask most. Still stuck? Write to us.
How do I add an account?
Where you sign in to the service, open its security settings and turn on two-step sign-in (it may be called “authenticator app”). It shows a QR code. In Usher Auth, tap + and point your camera at it, choose a photo of it, or type the setup key shown under it.
Which services work with Usher Auth?
Any service that offers an authenticator app for two-step sign-in. Usher Auth makes time-based codes (RFC 6238), as other authenticator apps do.
The code isn’t accepted.
Codes depend on the time. Make sure your phone sets its date and time automatically, then use the code showing now (or the next one, in its last five seconds).
I’m changing phone. How do I move my codes?
Your keys stay on the phone they were added on, by design: they aren’t synced or backed up. Before you change phone, sign in to each service and set up two-step sign-in again on the new phone. If your old phone is lost, use each service’s backup codes to sign in, then do the same.
Can I export my accounts?
No. Nothing leaves the app, so nobody can copy your keys out of it, including us.
Does it work offline?
Always. Usher Auth never goes online: codes are worked out on your phone from the key and the time.
How do I lock it?
In Settings, turn on the lock. Usher Auth then asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode each time you open it.
How do I rename, move or remove an account?
Press and hold its card. Before an account is removed, Usher Auth reminds you that you’ll need a backup code to sign in to that service without it.
A setup link opened Passwords instead.
On iOS 18, Apple’s Passwords app answers otpauth:// links. Use the “Add to Usher Auth” link where a service offers one, or scan the QR code from inside Usher Auth.
Is there an Android version?
It’s on its way. This page will say when it’s in Google Play.
What does Usher Auth know about me?
Nothing. It collects no data and makes no network calls. See the privacy policy.
